The half-drop pattern is sometimes referred to as a "shingle" or "brick" pattern because these particular materials are usually arranged using this system. Half-drop modules are "lapped" or shifted one-half the length of a module in each row. This usually creates a stable, unifying, all-over effect if the modules are rectangular and tightly packed. However, take notice of the fact that as the shape of the module changes or the spacing between modules increases, a diagonal stripe pattern becomes more dominant, creating a strong sense of implied motion.
